Sustainable modular window and door specification, explored in practice.

How Modularity and Sustainability are Consistently Maintained.
This face-to-face CPD seminar explores how modular window and door systems can support design freedom and sustainability throughout their lifecycle.
The session considers the role of materials, low-impact manufacturing, efficient on-site assembly, durability and end-of-life recycling.
Architects will also gain practical insight into integrating high-performance, factory-engineered window and door systems into residential and commercial projects while considering U-values and carbon-reduction requirements.

What the session covers
  • Modular window and door construction
  • Design flexibility across different project types
  • Material selection and component separation
  • Durability, serviceability and maintenance
  • End-of-life recycling

Program

Program

The aim of the event is to explore the theme of durability as an intrinsic foundation of contemporary architecture, highlighting how building to last today represents a conscious and strategic design choice. This approach is investigated in its implications in terms of quality, sustainability and the ability to adapt over time, as an essential part of responsible design. The main variables that affect the longevity of the building will be analysed, from material choices to construction details, considering the entire life cycle of the work and the relationship between quality, maintenance and performance over time. Through case studies and application examples, the event aims to provide useful tools to guide design towards strategies capable of guaranteeing solidity, adaptability and lasting value, both for the architectural envelope and for the interiors, promoting new criteria aimed at improving energy efficiency and living well-being.
